Mike Pettigrew – MCSP
I trained and qualified as a Remedial Gymnast in 1978 and briefly worked in Cardiff before moving to the North West 1979 to work for the Employment Rehabilitation Service in Preston.
In 1982 I trained as a physiotherapist. After qualifying I worked in the NHS at Blackburn Royal Infirmary and then moved to be the Physiotherapist at Blackburn Rovers from 1991 to 1994 when they were promoted to both the 1st Division and the Premier League.
I started working in private practice in 1986, combining this with my NHS Hospital work.
I qualified as a Teacher with the Cyriax Foundation in 1989 and have taught on and organised Orthopaedic Medicine courses for other physiotherapists and doctors. I continue to use the principles and practice of Orthopaedic Medicine in my daily work.
My specialities include sports injuries, assessment and treatment of musculo-skeletal injuries, acupuncture and manual therapy.
I am a Chartered Physiotherapist and registered with the Health and Care Professions Council. I am also a member of the organisation for Physiotherapists in Private Practice and also the Acupuncture Association clinical interest group.
